At Epiphany Catholic school, we believe a strong elementary education nurtures the whole child – academically, spiritually, morally, emotionally and physically. Rooted in our Catholic faith, our curriculum is designed to build a strong academic foundation while fostering curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and a lifelong love of learning. Through engaging, research-based instruction, meaningful relationships, a differentiated approach to individual learning, and an overall balanced approach to learning, we strive to help every child discover and develop the unique gifts God has given them.
Curriculum Overview
- Religion – Students grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus Christ through daily Religion instruction, prayer, scripture, the sacraments, as well as CGS (PreK3 through 4th grade), a Montessori-based approach to faith formation. Our Catholic Faith is not an afterthought or an addendum – it is integrated throughout every subject and every school day
- English Language Arts – Students develop strong foundations in reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, handwriting, cursive, and spelling while growing as thoughtful readers, confident writers, and effective communicators.
- Mathematics – Students build conceptual understanding, mathematical fluency, and problem-solving skills through hands-on exploration, collaboration, and real-world application.
- Science – Students investigate God’s creation through inquiry, experimentation, observation, engineering design, and hands-on learning that inspires curiosity and scientific thinking.
- Social Studies – Students develop an understanding of communities, history, geography, civics, economics and cultures while learning to become informed, responsible and virtuous, faith-filled citizens.
Student Achievement
MAP Growth Assessment
All students take the MAP Growth assessment (Measure of Academic Progress) three times a year in the fall, winter and spring. This assessment is designed to measure an individual student’s growth over time and identifies strengths and opportunities to help drive instruction at an individual level. This assessment provides specific focus areas that can be shared with parents to help drive growth and enhance the parent/teacher relationship for each student. Students in grades K-8 complete the Reading assessment, students in grades 1-8 take the Mathematics assessment and students complete the Science assessment in 5th and 8th grade only. Over the last two years, our student’s scores have continued to increase, scoring well above average across all grade levels.
ARK (Assessment of Religious Knowledge)
All students and religion teachers take the Assessment of Religious Knowledge (ARK) yearly as a tool to measure and enhance religious knowledge. The results from this are used to provide insights to assist with our student’s faith formation. We are proud of our high Catholic Identity Score, with our strongest area of knowledge in Sacraments and Liturgy and high scores in the areas of Virtue, Creed & Salvation History, Prayer and more.
